Government Degree College Kullu, situated on the right bank of river Beas, has one of the most picturesque scenic spot for experiencing the teaching-learning activity. The college has successfully completed 46 years of its existence. It was established on 8th July 1967 with an aim to disseminate quality education to the youth of Kullu Valley and to shape the youth by inculcating in them the ethos of tradition and change. The college caters to the needs of students of Kullu, Lahaul &Spiti and Mandi districts. All the year round the gentle caress of the rustling cool breeze keeps both the teachers and the taught in an elated and refreshing mood. Thus the college is unique for its scenic splendor and grandeur. The college is affiliated to H.P. University, Shimla. At present it runs graduate courses in Arts, Science and commerce, a post graduate courses in English and Economics and a vocational course in Tours and Travel Management. The college has earned another feather in its cap by getting affiliation to run B.C.A. with intake of 40 seats with effect from the session 2008-09. In addition to it the college has started B.B.A. course, with intake of 40 students, with effect from the session 2010-11. From the current session college has started a course in Journalism and Mass Communication as an optional subject. Also there are ongoing certificate and diploma courses in the same subject. There is a well-equipped computer lab, well stocked library and hostels for boys and girls. During the next session the college is expecting the peer team of NAAC for the purposes of re accreditation. This college has established a glorious record of excellence and notable achievements in academics, sports, cultural and other fields. This college aims at the overall personality development of the students and equipping them for good and quality life. Highly qualified and experienced faculty members make continuous and concerted efforts in shaping the future of the students. We provide excellent facilities in the fields of sports and games. Computers with VPN connectivity have been set up in most of the teaching departments. Separate departmental libraries have been established in the faculty of physical sciences and in the department of Geography. The rest of the departments will also be provided with this facility in the near future.

New Girls‟ Hostel with accommodation of 100 students is now ready. Well-equipped 2 hostels one for Boys and another for Girls with computer, sports, Gymnasium and library facilities.
Renovation of College Ground, Science Block and Shifting of Administrative Block to Library building. One of the old Girls hostel building is now being utilized for administrative and classroom purposes due to dismantling of some old college buildings.

Upcoming infrastructures and initiatives:
A new administrative block and arts block is being constructed with a estimated cost of about Rs. 9,5000000. It will house the student center, auditorium, library and common rooms for boys and girls. Construction of aforesaid structure shall start very soon from this session.
A sum of Rs. 1, 19, 63,700 has been deposited by H.P. Govt. with HIMUDA for the construction of residential accommodation for the Principal, College staff and for Chowkidar.
The college is going to face some accommodation problem from this session onwards due to dis-mantling of some old college buildings for the construction of new Arts and administrative block, in spite of this we are committed to provide pleasant and convenient environment for study and overall development of the stu-dents.
